Round House Theatre's world premiere co-production with Deleware Theatre Company of A Murder, A Mystery & A Marriage: A Mark Twain Musical Melodrama, with book, lyrics and direction by Aaron Posner and music by James Sugg, has been nominated for the 2007 Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play or Musical. This prestigious honor, bestowed annually by The Helen Hayes Awards, recognizes and celebrates the excellence of an outstanding new play or musical produced by a Washington, DC-area theatre company during the previous year. Nominated last year for its production of columbinus, Round House won the award in 2003 for the new play Shakespeare, Moses, and Joe Papp.

ABOUT A MURDER, A MYSTERY & MARRIAGE

Based on the recently discovered Mark Twain short story, A Murder, A Mystery & A Marriage is a feel-good slice of Americana served up Grand Ole Opry style. Mixing comedy and romance with a healthy portion of suspense and small town life, this hilarious bluegrass musical provided a foot stompin' banjo pickin' good time for the entire family.

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR A MURDER, A MYSTERY & MARRIAGE

"A rapturous celebration of country folk and folkways. A Murder, A Mystery & A Marriage is up to Round House's impressive standards."
- The Washington Post

"A cornucopia of corn-fed pleasures! James Sugg's score is folksy and a toe-tapper even if your music tastes run more toward Beyonce and Kanye than Shania and Martina. Mr. Posner tempers the laid-back bluegrass vibe of the music with lyrics that poke fun at the very conventions and stereotypes the musical celebrates. The result is a show that is homegrown and highly polished fun."
- The Washington Times

"A delightful summer diversion¡Ka boot-scooting hoot."
- Potomac Stages

"I cannot over emphasize how funny A Murder, A Mystery And A Marriage is. This is one of those shows where everything works from beginning to the end."
- DC Theatre Reviews

"It is completely rowdy and very funny and had the audience clapping and stomping at the finale. This is definitely a family musical of which we need more on our local stages."
- AllArtsReview4U.com

"Aaron Posner and his company of fine actors have cooked up an almost perfect souffl? of engaging characters, fanciful plot, humor that manages to be broad and subtle in just about equal measure, and music made for a summer's evening."
- Plays International

"DO NOT MISS THIS!!!!! I mean it!!!!"
- BroadwayWorld.com
